I've heard good things about credit unions. But don't you have to work somewhere first? Is there a secret handshake or something?

Yes there are many great things about credit unions, and to answer your questions, No. Most everyone has access to a credit union. The Ohio and U.S. governments understand how credit unions provide value and competition for financial services, so they have made credit union services more widely available. This credit union, Wayne County Community Federal Credit Union, can serve and welcome anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Wayne County, in northeast central Ohio. A regular Account Membership is free, and we requires only a $25 initial deposit (it stays your money in your account)  to open your savings and checking account.

The Piggy Bank Club Account (16 and under)

Piggy Bank Accounts are free and can be opened with a minimum of $10. Each time the child makes a deposit on the account they get to pick from an assortment of prizes. The Piggy Bank Club has special privileges such as birthday gifts, special events and other fun designed to encourage kids to get into the habit of saving, and keep saving for their lifetime.

Coming September 22nd

Wayne County Community Federal Credit Union will be

closed on Monday September 7 for the federal holiday of Labor Day.

  Consumer Alert:

We have reports of a few people

receiving calls informing them their debit card

has been "blocked" or "locked".

The automated message

then requests the person to "speak to a

representative", where they will be asked for

debit card information.

While this does not appear to be directed

at Wayne County Community

Federal Credit Union members, please know

we (nor any financial institution) would not call you,

then ask for your card number.
